      Ive since took out most of the piercings but as I’ve been saying for years, whatever makes the wearer happy is ultimately key. I’ve never done any of my jewelry or tattoos for anyone except myself. Not partners or parents or anyone. As for the hognoses, I wouldn’t call them aggressive period. Dramatic, yes. Aggressive, never. And it doesn’t seem to matter their sex. Just handle the baby and you’ll be fine :)

      @@Casspederson so both are the same you think? I just watched a video on RUclips of a man getting bit by a female HN and it was horrible, he was in the hospital for a while his arm swollen partly past his shoulder little in his chest, now that was scary!! You gotta watch that video… I seen one girl on YT kissing her snakes and she went to kiss her hognose and it jerked and hissed, could you imagine had it bit onto her nose or chin what that could had done to her? And if her female HN would had latched onto her nose it would had been painfully hard I would imagine to got it off such a eye watering tender area I would say.. but there is so many videos especially from breeders that doesn’t give the HN venom the respect it deserves” I’ve seen many videos of them prizing up the nose of babies to make them release “ but never an adult female which I’m pretty sure would be much harder to get to release “ what say you ? Wouldn’t you think it would be harder to get a adult female to release? Seem like she would be stronger and grip on tighter?

      @alexcrowder1673 Год назад

      I'll say lol. Tigers and platinums both tend to run on the large side, even compared to typical mainland retics. The starting stock of those particular morphs originated from some HUGE lines. Pieds and albinos are also often larger than average. My only tiger has goldenchild in him too, and i dont chuck food at him like some people do. So hes only 10ft and 20lbs at roughly 7 years of age.

    The growth of the Mainland Retic well most Retics depends on the size of their mother. Females generally get a lot bigger. Just because it’s a Mainland doesn’t mean they’re gonna get 20-25ft. I have a dwarf who’s really hyper active but I agree they are really good snakes if you’re willing to put the time in and grow with them when they’re young

    • @Casspederson

    Just a question I’ve heard humidity is bad for rosy boa’s and is a main killing cause for them. Is that true and if so why would we need a humidity hide?

    • @Casspederson
      @Casspederson 2 года назад

      It is! They’re a more arid snake. However, offering a humid high benefits them while shedding. It’s not something I’d keep in 24/7 and to be fully honest with you, aslong as they ALWAYS have access to fresh, clean water; a humid hide really isn’t necessary at all. That’s just from my person experience because I live where they’re native. Best of luck!

  • @gregmeissner9960
    @gregmeissner9960 2 года назад

    Good info, absolutely love rosies. One bonus is that I can keep them without fear of placing my parrot in danger (most other boas/pythons would be a concern in that regard).

    • @Casspederson
      @Casspederson 2 года назад

      Unless it’s a large boa constrictor or larger python, I wouldn’t be toooo concerned tbh. I’d be more worried about the parrot hurting the snake, they’re feisty! Anything around ball python size is no threat to the bird. Plus, that bird is WAY more intelligent.

    I've heard that the rosys might want to bruminate in the northern climates. Any idea if that's true, and how to prepare the enclosure? I don't have one... yet.

    • @Casspederson
      @Casspederson 2 года назад

      Honestly, it’s individual to individual just like in a lot of species. If you notice them sleeping more on the cold side and refusing food but not losing body condition, just leave them alone for a little while. I had a male sand boa that would brumate 6 months of the year, but I also lived in the mountains kind of like what you described. They pick up on barometric pressures and changes in the season, weather, and environment that we may not necessarily pick up on because there’s no need in the modern world. Unless you’re breeding, there’s no reason to brumate them really. So no need to prepare for it. But it’s good to know what to look for incase they do it themselves. I have lived in Southern California for the past 10+ years. I have mostly lived in the desert and on the beach. However, the past few years that I’ve been in a colder environment at a higher elevation, I have noticed more brumation behaviors in the boas and some geckos specifically. I’d say do more research, maybe watch some channels in the same region or climate as you, and if you’re ever concerned, find a GOOD local exotic vet that can help you if anything ever goes sour. Thanks for viewing even though the videos rather old.

      I really haven’t observed hardcore climbing from them, but a rock or log or two never hurts. :) even if they don’t use it to climb, they can hide behind, wrap around it, or tunnel under it. In addition to that, it just adds to the enclosure.

    • @Casspederson
      @Casspederson 2 года назад

      They’re both easy and relatively similar to care for. It’s hard to say for sure as they all have their own personalities. They’re fairly similar species except spotted pythons seem to be more active and balls like to chill. Spotteds are a good candidate for a nice, wide & tall bioactive enclosure because they’ll explore every inch of it. Balls typically will find a hide and stick to it. Spotteds like I said will take advantage of the space and hunt constantly. As for who’s smarter, it’s hard to say. I’ve have smart and dumbasses of both.
